Day 4 - Tuesday, September 2nd

So glad to finally be in Florida! The weather is perfect! Very few clouds, sun shining, and temperature is around 86 degrees. A little humid for me though, but I will survive.

Today our plan was... well, actually, we didn't really have a plan. Mainly we just drove around and looked at stuff. Went to IHOP for breakfast and Asa got to see the Gulf of Mexico for the first time. Not the beach, but we took him on a small pier/dock thing. At this point he still didn't understand and called the ocean a "big pool".

Went to Giuseppi's Wharf for an early dinner before we headed to Milton, Fl. to see Grandma Dot and Papa Arleigh. Giuseppi's original restaurant was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan back in 2004. They just rebuilt it and reopened in March 2008.

Here is Daddy and Asa on the dock outside of Giuseppi's Marina.

Asa really liked this wood statue of an old fisherman. You can't see it but on the statues other shoulder is a parrot. Asa thought that was pretty neat.

Mommy, Asa and Lexi.

Off to Grandma Dot's house! We are so excited for them to finally meet Lexi and of course see Asa again. They haven't seen Asa since he was 7 months old. Asa was a little unsure of Grandma Dot at first, but she was able to easily warm him up by offering him some Honey Nut Cheerios! Grandma's sure do know the way to a kids heart! Grandma Dot sure does have some really cool stuff in her house...

Her magnifying glass for example! Asa absolutely fell in love with his peculiar object. Kept calling it a spy glass although we aren't sure how he knew that or where he got that word from. Maybe Blues Clues?

Grandma Dot also has a really cool Cuckoo Clock. Every time the little birdie would come out the door and chirp, Asa would get up, run to the clock and squeal, clap and laugh. He thought that was the neatest thing... next to the Roomba of course. Grandma Dot also has a really cool "vacuum" called "Roomba". Basically it's a robot that you program to vacuum your floors automatically for you. It didn't take Asa very long how to figure out how to turn it on and off and make it go "home".

Daddy, Papa Arleigh and Lexi. Lexi absolutely stole Papa Arleigh's heart! Asa wasn't too sure about him, but eventually warmed up.

Lexi... being the sweet little princess that she is!

Looks like Lexi found Grandma Dot's magnifying glass!
